New piece! My favorite ever~ "Eagle's Feather -Taka No Ha-"

Yaaaay! I finished another piece for the IAM OKC Charity Art Auction. I like working on a deadline b/c it makes me work well. The title of this piece sounds rather Native American, BUT actually it's Japanese! "Eagle's Feather" is the name of the family crest for my mother's family, the Kai Family. I had extra power bursting out of me to work on this piece b/c of that, I guess. I felt different than usual when I was working! Like colors flowed out of my brush just controlled by my emotion! Woooow!

Here is the actual crest.

Here are examples of other families' crests.

Finished! Night -Yoru-

Today it felt like a million tasks were getting in the way of me finishing any art. I was re-desiging a website that I should do at *some* point, but I shouldn't have wasted so much time on it today. I got absorbed in the graphic design universe. BUT! At the end of the day I did indeed finish "Night -Yoru-" complete with the gold paint. As I've said before, this piece will be for the Oklahoma City IAM Charity Art Auction at the end of January.

Auction piece for IAM OKC "Night" sketch

I very much want to finish "Winter -Fuyu-" but I had to set that piece aside to make a series of smaller pieces for the International Arts Movement OKC charity auction. It's my goal to make 5 new pieces for the auction... the deadline is Dec 30th! Will I make it? We'll see. I feel very busy lately because I had another phone call yesterday asking if I wanted to be in a group show in Jan. I'm so glad I have 3 shows lined up, but now I must work extra hard! But I'm not complaining, and I keep hearing Simon Cowell's voice in my head saying "That's a high-class problem to have." La! I will work hard!

Btw I think I'll call this one "Night -Yoru-." Notice she has a kanzashi in her head except that it's the kanji for "night." I plan to detail that part in gold leaf.

Tom Bagshaw's works

Look at Tom Bagshaw's enchanting works! Some of them are creepy, some bizarre, some beautiful... they are so well-done! So surreal! Check it: Tom Bagshaw's site --->

I am a submitting machine!

Woops, that sounded bizarre. I just realized that I need to be submitting to popular art blogs, etc at least several times a day since my work has got to pop up in several places at once, and keep doing so if it's to be noticed. I like doing the submissions, but it takes so much time! I need a clone that handles my marketing, NOW! Here's who I submitted to for today:

Hi-Fructose (YEEEAY!) --->

Design is Kinky (Australian site) ---> (run by a Japanese-Canadian guy called Jeff Hamada) --->

Hopefully somebody will say yes! Heeeeeeee~

Work in Progress: Winter -Fuyu-

Here she is for now. I've finished the light pencil drawing and the lightest layer of watercolor paint. I'll probably finish the rest of the colors tomorrow and give it some more contrast. I hope it turns out looking "wintery" after all... #I've got a feelin'... (wooo-ooooo) that this piece's gonna be a good piece...#

PS. I promise the nose is not that pointy. It's a camera distortion :P

Charming Charmaine Olivia

Kyahhh! I just heart her work! Some of it looks a little off-kilter or wonky, but I find it charming. Her drawing, lines, colors, website, everything is super cute! Love it <3 data-blogger-escaped-br="">

Sketch for new painting: Winter -Fuyu-

Here's a sketch for a new painting in the "Seasons" series. I like the sort of somber and sad expression of the girl... and I like the long nose I've given her. :P I always produce about 4 rubbish sketches for every successful sketch. Hopefully the painting succeeds!
