For Once, a Boy Painting: "Indomitable II -Fukutsu-"

I finally finished the first BOY I've drawn in a long time. It was interesting because I felt a different kind of power or excitement to draw him. It was good for a change, though now I'm ready to get back to my gorgeous girls. XD

Here he is from start to finish. His look, theme, and styling are similar to another piece I've done, so I decided to name him "Indomitable II -Fukutsu-" He is mixed media collage on wood, 27x48", so pretty large. In a few short days he will also be framed beautifully, mounted on a wooden base. Want him? Thanks to PayPal you can buy him anytime you please~ He is $1,000 USD with free shipping (in the US.)

The initial line drawing.

New piece! "Smolder Mist -Kagerou-"

So here's my newest piece, 42x24. I have only a moment to rest... must start on the next, double time! This time I quite like the way I did the non-objective background. I think I might be finally getting the hang of it. What do you think?

Here are two progress shots:

I really didn't like the way the deer looked on the above stage; so I changed it to its current un-Christmas-looking state.

By the bye, something crazy happened on my Deviant Art. I guess I got a "Daily Deviation" which I'm not quite sure what it is... except that I suddenly had six-hundred and something feedbacks. Wahhh! And they keep coming. Yay! I wish this would trickle over into FB, since that's where all the action happens. I usually forget about DA!

Illustration QUEEN! Martine Johanna

I've seen Martine's works all over the place recently but only today did I discover who the artist was, and get to see her official website.

I almost knocked over my coffee and ruined my keyboard at workI almost went into a frenzy. She makes me want to bust out the soft pencils and start sketching away! What do you think? I'm gonna "like" her FB page... right NOW! Plus, people, her works I've posted above are just like a tiny smidgen of the range of work she does. I sugoost you check out her site as fast as your fingers can type the url (or click the link.)

On another subject, I'm recently in a frenzy of very cool tees with beautiful line art. I know Society 6 is a great place to find them. Please show me your faves! I really want this one with a David Choe drawing on it because I remembered how much I am in a frenzy of his wild art. If I have any money left over after buying frames for my solo show, I may treat myself.

Spruced up Studio Space

I decided to clean and spruce up my messy studio because I'm going to have a video shoot there the day after tomorrow. I'll post more about that later. But for now, I just put up some string and clothes-pinned up my fave inspirations (mostly David Choe for now.) Also, I got to finally put up the Ben-Kei hanging that we bought (just like perfect little tourists) in Asakusa in Tokyo.

On another note, my EMA auction is up and running. So far it has 1 bid. Please get your bids in to help Japan. 100% of the proceeds will go there. THANKS!

Artists Help Japan: My Ema is Finished; Please BID!

I am taking part in this wonderful auction to benefit Japan, put on by Christina Conway. Many artists are painting emas (small wooden rectangles on which you can write wishes). The emas are then put on eBay and people will bid, bid, BID!

All the proceeds will go to Give2Asia to benefit Japanese earthquake victims who have lost more than any human can imagine losing. So please, make a bid! You could win some fantastic art and help someone who needs your help at the same time. And look at this lineup. LOOK AT IT! Audrey Kawasaki, Stella Im Hultbert, Yoskay Yamamoto, Fawn Fruits, AH!!!!!

Here is the link to the eBay site. My ema, named "Prayers-Inori-" should be available for bidding shortly.
