700 Facebook Likes Equals Etsy Special Event!

Thank you guys for bringing the number of likes for JUURI's art to over 700! To celebrate and thank you, I will be having a special Etsy event.

Every day from July 5th - July 8th 2011, I WILL LIST AN ITEM FOR $1 IN MY ETSY STORE. The daily item could be a limited edition signed print, it could be a sketch, it could be an original, it could be personal art advice! IT COULD BE ANYTHING! (But I promise they will all be good things.)

Each time I list on Etsy, I will also announce it on FB and Twitter. So, stay alert! You can invite your friends to participate, too. You don't have to be a fan to grab the special sale.

(Please be considerate to others, only one purchase per person.)

Cheers! ♥ JUURI

Contemporary style: "Autumn Showers -Shu Rin-"

I finished a painting of a girl in a little different style than my usual. I just wanted to try something fun and experimental, maybe something I could keep for my room. (Of course it's still available to buy.)

It seems like it might be more of an interior design wall art type of thing rather than gallery art, but oh well! It was fun and refreshing to do something new. And, I'm not offended AT ALL if people think "Oh, that'll look nice on my wall" or "that will match my living room."

A lot of artists get irritated when they hear people say that, but... I don't understand why. After all, the buyer will hang the piece in their house. Why shouldn't they look for something that looks good with the feel of their space? In any case, if anyone ever asks me to do a piece with specific colors and look in mind, I'm glad to fulfill all their requests without one single tinge of indignation whatsoever.

These Goosebumps are Becoming Painful

I'd seen Mizuhara Kiko in ViVi magazine before... I'd always thought she was very pretty but didn't give it much thought because, well, all those girls are stunning, and usually fashion magazines photograph the models in such a way that they are secondary to whatever clothes/makeup/bags/shoes they are advertising. (Which of course makes sense.)

BUT I was reminded about her because of Audrey's blog post today. I then launched a renewed effort to find photos of Kiko online... and came upon this treasure trove on tumblr.

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF KICKING THE BUCKET FROM BEAUTY OVERLOAD. I am not joking or exaggerating; my goosebumps are so severe that it hurts my skin. I cannot function today or do anything else other than collecting Kiko's photos like a super scary stalker fan. I am looooosing my mindddddd!

A Cheerful Girl for Once: "Fragile -Utakata-"

Here is my happiest-looking girl yet with her faint, mysterious little smile. She had a sweet vulnerability in her eyes, so that's why I named her "Fragile -Utakata-." She is surrounded by Japanese Chrysanthemums with gold leaf drips all around.

She is 12x20, mixed media on board. $375/Free shipping in the US.
